Looking at the timing, wasn't the V90 originally marketed just after the end of the First Gulf war, the one that GB senior didn't finish, and landed us with the mess we have now. If I'm right, there were still wellheads on fire or at least only just put out, and hence there was a bit of a crisis in fuel supplies (I think that it wasn't real, just a perceived crisis), plus we had petrol price rises, and tanker depots being blockaded, so that might have depressed the sales of big 3.0 litre cars. (So what's new???)
