Need some help on Reaper.

Hello! Im new to reaper. And i think its a very good Software. But i got a question for you. 1. When i add Wave files into reaper. It makes some new wave files with a reaper icon, and its going to my desktop. This is not the Orginal wave file that i use, But it seems that reaper make a copy of them or something. If i try to delete it. and open the project it will be a new wave files on the desktop. I just wonder why? How can i get them away ? or do i need them? Thank you Bmusic

Hello bmusic and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information. I think that you will find that those files are "Reapeak" files - the graphical representation of your .wav files. So, if you delete them and load the wav file into Reaper, Reaper will create them again. Click [Options], select Preferences, then Media to see some options for generating and stroing the peak files.

You also may want to tell REAPER where to place orphane project files, other than your Desktop. See Options->Preferences->General and Projects and Audio->Recording for your set up.
