This is great in Logic and I believe Cubase. Avoids the situation of you playing a great riff only to find you weren't recording. With this enabled you just hit a key command and Reaper has the info buffered somewhere and the bit you just played can be placed in the arrangement (retrospectively recorded). Heres a tread with other peoples similar requests - keep up the good work
RE: Capture last take midi even when not recording
"save the last X second incoming MIDI/Audio ?" Yes exactly - Ideally I'd like to just press a key command/button and have the highlighted track populated with the midi information in place as it was played. Could you elaborate on this please - which JS plug in exactly "don't know what this is but simple save/capture/buffer incoming data by user settings and then play it when requested " Thanks

RE: Capture last take midi even when not recording
I think that maybe SWS could look into this and make it a part of his extensions - basically if you make JS, whatsup, you'd still need to load it, and save it as project template perhaps. If SWS makes it it would act on sort-of core level, and you could just assign a keypress to an action that would "Place the skipback recorded audio/MIDI item on the selected track", and have it right there. Of course, SWS would add a small Properties window where we could set how long the skipback should work in behind (I recommend up to one minute, in 1 second increments), file type (WAV/MP3/FLAC/others, bit depth, samplerate, use Project default settings), and to show how much RAM would that constantly take. I like this idea very much. VERY much.
RE: Capture last take midi even when not recording
this plug is ready you can download it on my signature called capture i made few tests, it works fine. check it and let me know if there're problems some detalis: can capture Audio as well as MIDI events. for the Audio, you can set the last capture time. for MIDI it captures alway the last 1000000 events. EDIT: this is now also customizable. but when saving project, it saves only the actual captured events. you have full control, on what and when you want to capture / play.
RE: Capture last take midi even when not recording
OK I've got the plug loaded - I've played some midi whilst reapers running but not recording. What do I then do to get the arrange page to show the midi I want captured i.e the last thing I played? Apologies for being slow
RE: Capture last take midi even when not recording
you have to record the midi output of the plug, just like you do with every plug to make this plug output/play its captured events, select the play mode sync and now when you press play , you will be able to hear the capture, and record it.
