960 Gear Selector; W, S, E setting

Advertising

MessageAuthor

We recently had the front part of the hand brake cable replaced and have just realised that we can no longer select the W, S or E buttons by the gear selector. Luckily it seems to be stuck in E. Also the lights on these buttons is not working. It is impossible to depress any of them. Any suggestions please or is it going to be another visit to the dealer?

Hi, Who fixed/replaced the handbrake cable? Would it not be down to them to sort it out? They broke it, they fix it. Des. . . ;)

Difficult to prove they broke it as we did not try to change to "sporty" for about 10 days after the repair, though we do know that it was working a couple of days before the cable went.

It could be something a simple as they forgot to plug the selector switch back in after removing the centre console.

Many thanks for the replies. Thanks to Mollusk we now know what the switch looks like and will see what we can do tomorrow. The trip to the garage is not an easy one and we are not due for a service for a while. Will let you know how we get on.
