make sure divx3.11alpha is installed (and not any other kind of divx3), to be save - reinstall. press 'preview' to check the frameserver before you start encoding. (you had comp-check activated but pressed 'save and encode' instead of 'now'...) if something goes wrong again post the complete log and your avs-file. wef.

RE: Just won't work!

Success! I un-installed DivX 4 (which I'd never used). Re-installed DivX3.11, and by the morning I had a spangly new 698Mb AVI file MAGIC! Cheers the WEF! :)

RE: Just won't work!

Well, I tried "The Perfect Storm" again with the same settings "just mux-ing" the audio and this time it made a 701Mb avi (both passes completed) that played, but at very low quality (probably because its just a hard movie to compress), and with no sound. I don't know if the sound is in there but something went wrong with interleaving or something. The MP3 file plays fine on its own, although its about 4 minutes shorter than the movie in length. I'm going to give it another try just to see if it works this time anyway. If anyone thinks they know the answer to this one your help would be, err helpfull. ;) If anyone thinks I should post the log for them, just ask; I left it out becuase it takes up so much room. Cheers. Hatty.

RE: Just won't work!

Perfect storm worked on fifth attempt (hooray!). I think its because I installed DivX;-)3.11 alpha again just before it worked. Then I did "Billy Elliot" and it worked first time, then I tried "Planet of the Apes" and it did its trick of entirely freezing the computer whilst in the middle of a rip (which seems to happen alot). When I went to the computer when it should have finished, the copmuter had frozen with a black screen. It had compiled about 450Mb of the second pass, eek. So I set up GKnot to do just second pass and mux audio, using the stats and ecf files it made on the first run. I got this error though... 20:33:59: Audio 1, determined: 107230 kb 20:33:59: Audio 1, calc: 107230 kb 20:33:59: New Bitrate for Movie = 694 k(=1024)Bits/s 20:34:00: WARNING: Number of counted frames differs from settings! 20:34:00: WARNING: Settings: 172490 20:34:00: WARNING: Counted: 162342 20:34:00: WARNING: Difference: 10148 20:34:00: Correcting Bitrate... 20:34:00: Original Bitrate = 694 k(=1024)Bits/s 20:34:00: Now encoding at 738 k(=1024)Bits/s Does that mean it will leave out the credits which were not included in the calculations this time round? Do I have to re-install DivX;-)3.11 alpha again and start again from scratch? Should I just give up on DivX3.11 and use 5.02? Should I get a job? Which zodiac sign is most compatible with me this month? I need help ;) Thanx. Hatty.

RE: Just won't work!

Well, I think its about time to stop posting now because all I'm getting is the same problem over and over again. Has anybody else encountered the computer crashing whilst in the middle of rendering with DivX3.11 [or 5.02] (pass 1 or 2)? Does anyone know why? Thanx alot. End Transmission.
