Resolved the problem - ended up probably being a combination of the following - in Atto Express Pro Tools, we set the PCI Burst Rate to 32 Bytes, and dropped the speeds on the scsi busses down to (10)5. We also discovered that when Atto Cards have an internal drive connected to them, the automatic scsi termination selection is not correct. Depending on what configuration of internal and external drives that you are using, you have to change the term settings in the Atto ProTools app - which updates the ROM on the scsi card. Even with the scsi bus speed stepped down to the lower setting, we got 24 tracks of 48k/24bit audio off of 2 drives... And both drives were on the same bus of the dual channel card... Hope this helps someone in the future. Another note - we had received reports from some sources that the interal PCI buss on an 8600 just would not handle the bandwidth... It can.
