Mbox2 Mini whining outputs

Advertising

MessageAuthor

I just searched the forum and couldn't find a related question except one specifically for the regular Mbox (specifically NOT for the Mini). When I connect the monitor outputs to my stereo amp, there is a high-pitched whine almost like a high key on a keyboard coming through the speakers. It's not there in the headphone output and also does not exist if I plug the headphones into the monitor outs (just as a test). The noise only exists when PTLE is running, even if no session is open. The manual says that I can use TS 1/4 inch plugs, but since the headphones don't get it, I'm wondering if I need to use TRS plugs anyway. How then would I adapt an RCA plug on the other end? Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem when I first hooked my my 002. I reconnected the monitors with the trs cables and the high pitched whine dissapeared. This might work for you.

Hi ! This is a semi-known problem. I have the Mbox2 and have had the same issue, the problem/solution lies with the USB cable shipped with the MBox, it's now good enough. I got a well-shielded cable designed for best signal integrity. The whinning is gone. Easy solution.
