I purchased about 3 weeks ago what seemed to be a fantastic V70 '02 plate from a Volvo dealer in Reading. The car is a S model with 43k on the clock and FVSH. After driving round for a couple of days I find that the Auto Gearbox is not very smooth - going to from R or N to D I get a 2 second pause and then a couple of significant jolts before I can pull away - also it had the Stop Neutral "feature" which coupled with this problem made driving a somewhat tiring experience. Also the car would stall when I started from cold and put it into gear. To add insult to injury it has kindly dumped a small pool of Transmission Fluid on my Drive :( I took it back to the dealer and they cleaned the ETM which seems to have solved the stalling issue and applied the Stop Neutral software upgrade - however this did not fix the problem and I was advised that I needed a new gearbox. No problem I thought - the car came with a 1 year Volvo warranty. Today I dropped off the car at the dealer and they got the assessor in to check before the car before they did the work - it seems the assessor has rejected the claim, no reason given and they said they will have to wait for the report until they find out why. So now I have a car which Volvo are refusing to fix and at the moment is not particularly pleasant to drive. This seems to be an unacceptable situation - does anyone have any advice on how I can get my car fixed - there is no way they can claim I caused the problem as I advised them in under a week that I was not happy with the car and their immediate diagnosis was that the gearbox needed replacing. Also this seems to be very low mileage for a gearbox replacement - my impression of Volvo's was that they run and run - however if something this major needs replacing so soon this does not inspire a huge amount of confidence. Rant over :)
