i'm interested in finding out how PTLE and a 001 handles controlling these modules. they sound fookin' awesome in the shop, but i'm not sure if PTLE supports them, or if it does, if it controls them all that well.... any feedback appreciated. tommydee.

Hi Tommydee I have an E-mu Proteus 2000 (same spec as the 'Turbo' models) with the XL-1 and Techno Synth Construction Yard expansion ROMs fitted. On a Mac, you can access all the patch names from within Pro Tools with the aid of OMS Names (supplied with Pro Tools), plus the relative patch name documents from Doc22's OMS Names site. Ask around on the DUC for the link. Another nice feature is the 12 assignable controllers (from the module's front panel knobs) can be 'drawn' over the top of your MIDI notes using the Pencil tool in Pro Tools. Nice! Just bear in mind that the extra 16 instrument channels that comes with the 'Turbo' module can only be accessed by another MIDI connection from the computer. The Digi001 has one in/out port, so you'll need to add a third-party MIDI Interface to take advantage of the Turbo's extra power. If you desire additional editing power of the module, SoundDiver () is a must. Plase feel free to bug me with any more questions... Phil

hey accession... an aussie! i'm an aussie, been living in the US for about 8 years but. so what you're saying (if i get it) is: - there's a site i can get the patch names for the E-mu modules from... then i have to put them into the OMS, and then they'll appear within PTLE?? - i need another MIDI interface (like one that plugs into the printer port) and plug the turbo phatt into that, instead of chaining it up to my PT midi chain. then i get PTLE to access MIDI from two different ports -- from the 001, and then from this other one, too. (is this even possible??) thanks in advance for your tips. cheers, t.
