Hesitation and Backfire

Hi all I was taking family members round for Xmas dinner today and the 244 started misbehaving. Hesitation and mini-backfiring under load. After dinner i popped the bonnet and noticed that the carb had swallowed up all the fluid i topped the dash-pot up with yesterday. Where can it go?????

Punctured diaphram? I'm not sure whether that can account for the increased oil useage, but it can certainly cause poor running.

Yep I'm with Cliff on this one, small split in diaphram and when you take the top off you will find oil on the diaphram that has been lifted out of the pot. Regards Peter

Hi all, thanks for the comments. I dismantled the carb, renewed 1 breather hose and 1 vacuum hose. I renwed the points and condensor (Isn't old school ace!!) changed plugs and changed the suspect looking vacuum servo hose Result - It's never ran so good!!!!! Thanks again guys for the input
