hi, i wonder if other people have this problem too, i use reaper (latest) with asio4all drivers (latest). runs great on my XP (sp3) system but reaper never exits properly. it does close (visually, the UI disappears without error), but then i always have to terminate the reaper process manually or it will keep running 'hidden in the background'. when i use the 'normal' drivers for my terratec ews soundcard this doesn't happen (but they give more latency so i prefer to keep on using asio4all + reaper) any hints? david
yest the latest asio4all. but i noticed that the 'normal' drivers have it too, so maybe it's not driver related. it happens even when i have only one track with no effects or vsti's at all. really, this is the only problem with this program, it runs so great but it's annoying to have several reapers running in the background eating memory (when i closed the prog a few times without manually killing its process)

still haven't found a solution, but it's not driver related, asio4all or the terratec ewx 24/96 own drivers have the same problem. reaper's process doesn't terminate after exiting. i did find that all works properly as long as i haven't touched 'play'. so just opening a file, not playing it, and exit, all is fine and reaper terminates. when i actually play something reaper's process keeps running after exiting the program. now i know that some programs think that there's no mixer in my sytem. there *is* (terratecs own mixer), but probably it's not 100% windows XP compatible or something, can it be related to that? any other terratec ewx 24/96 users with this problem? help appreciated, this is the only bug i can find in reaper, but quite annoying.. david
hi! thanks *a lot* foor looking into this! with 'normal' (non-asio) drivers the problem is exactly the same. (and indeed with the 'native' ewx asio drivers too) so not an asio thing i guess. killing the reaper process is no problem, i get no further errors. and i can use other audio apps (or indeed a new reaper instance) when reaper is closed but the process still runs. so maybe its the terratec hardware? it's got a mixer built in, that not every program recognizes, maybe that's something? (there's no way to get the windows mixer with this soundcard, just its own mixing applet) greetings, david
ah yes sorry for the confusion, in my second post i corrected that reaper closes properly with another driver. so with waveout, asio, dummy driver, or, indeed with onboard sound, i get no proper 'close'. :-( ms synth is disabled. so i guess it never works quite right and it must be something else. difficult! i do have a tv tuner card in my system, can that have anything to do with it? //disabled tv card in control panel didn't help..// is there any way of checking/logging where reaper 'stops exiting'? david //workaround found// i made a .bat file with tskill command + shortcut so i can close/terminate reaper now with a single click which makes the problem a lot less annoying
