Outputs 5-8

Is there anything I can do to boost the signal going into outputs 5-8 while recording? I switched over to -10dv on each channel. It helped some but my signal is still relatively low. l'm programming drums using unbalance cables. Thanks

...not on the 002 you can't where.. that option's only avalable for the 001. You need to use external mic preamps if you're recording drums - feed the line output of the preamps to inputs 5-8. Rail

No, I always use mic preamps to record drums.. even when they're coming from an MPC -- by going though a 1068/1073 preamp they're much more aggresive and punchy. Rail

Set input sensitivity to +4dbu if the drum machine out si +4dbu. Make sure your volume software settings are not attenuated in the drum machine. If the drum machine has balanced outs use balanced cables.

Just wondering why youre not using inputs 1-4?

Is setting the sensitivity to 10dv bad? With the sensitivity set to 4dbu, the signal is significantly lower. I'll check for attenuated settings on the drum machine, but I haven't made any changes there. Should the drum machine's manual tell me flat out if the output is balanced or unbalanced? The only information I could find is that the output is fixed at 4dbu. From a not so helpful Guitar Center rep, and my own assumptions, I took this to mean that the output is unbalanced. I have the same problem with my keyboard's manual, but it only tells me the output is fixed. An attempt to use balanced cables with the keyboard resulted in an fairly lower volume output. Can you offer any advice regarding this?
