My 940 highlander has come to the end of it`s days and i have just got a 940 s anyway when i first had the highlander it had a problem with OIL LEAKING FROM THE GASKET SEAL and it was leaking onto the exhaust pipes leading into the engine and making a horrible smell.... i took it to the garage and they fixed it by using a silicon sealent of some kind....8 months later it has started leaking again...im sure you are aware the engine tilts down to the left....anyway just got this another 940 and it is leaking in the same place !! NOW WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS.... IS THIS COMMON WITH THE 940 ? ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM ? THANKS STEVE

This engine isnt prone to leaks , where is it leaking from exactly , the top cover ? The oil filler cap seal? which goes hard after 80,000 miles or so ,a restricted breather could exagerate any fault with the oil filler cap seal too .
to be honest on the highlander of late there was a oil stain from the cap...but on this 940s it seems to of splattered everywhere...but seems to be from the silicon around the head....thats where the clean oil is from.
Hi, I have a 940 and while there is oil in the engine bay there is nothing either excessive, nor anything to be concerned about.. A photo of your particular leak and its position would be handy... And yes, the suggestion of a gasket change using a good quality gasket or volvo gasket would be the ideal solution.. Des. . . ;)

Hi, Water from the exhaust is normal, especially when starting up and early warm up stages, as water is one of those by-products of burning hydrocarbons.. Des. . . ;) EDIT: Even more so if you have a s/s exhaust as they are through flow and don't really get hot enough to boil off water further down the pipe..
