PAL & NTSC on same DVD5 ??????

Advertising

MessageAuthor

Well, the fact is that having a PAL and a NTSC video stream in the same layer in the same disc(!!!) is against the DVD Specs and that maybe some dvd players will crash when playing that disc. BUT i have seen a DVD which had BOTH types made with Scenarist. Does anyone have any clue on how the authoring was made??? I have tried many things but i still cant get it. Thanx guys!

Scenarist is very strict with tv systems. It doesn't allow u to import a pal video in a ntsc project. Perhaps the title set it was tempered with ifoedit. if it was a dvd-r what u saw.

I apologize for my english response but its an english speaking board. It wasn't authored with Scenarist. It wouldn't happen if it was. Perhaps some cheap home solution, we have plenty of them in Greece, could caused it. U know a project that starts as NTSC and switches to Pal. first of all i wanna apologize for my GREEK on the 2nd post.I wasnt thinkink!!! Sorry all! What i said before is that the DVD i saw wasnt a DVD-r but it was a dvd made from production. I have some very good sourses that told me that it CAN BE DONE with SCENARIST (and it was made with Scenarist) but there are some steps that must be done. Has anyone tried it?

This is possible with a little messing about.... I've posted this info b4.. and every time one of the long-time users usually jumps all over it stating that mixing video formats is illegal DVD format. It might be illegall according to DVD standard but it is often done.. I've seen it many times commercially.. latest instance is "The Animatrix" PAL R2 rental version... VTS 2.. the bonus material VOBSet has NTSC menu.. i'd post the IFO but anyone interested enough can check if from above info... the easiest way to do it I've found is to do 2 re-authors... 1 for the PAL content... 1 for the ntsc.. using dummy source except 4 the content required. Combine the 2 lots of VOBs until you have layout matching original and the treat as normal....
