i never got a nice reverb out of renaissance either. if i want a simple reverb on the vocals, i think d-verb does the job pretty well.

RE: No clue about how to use reverb...

Generally I have reverb at 100% if it is on an aux track that I am sending signals too and playing along with the original dry track. If the reverb is on the same track, then I never have it at 100%. Sounds like you are on the right track and I find reverb is something I change quite a bit for track to track and song to song, so I just start with the waves presets and tweak from there.

RE: No clue about how to use reverb...

Make a Stereo Aux input and insert your reverb there and leave it at 100% wet. Set it's audio input to a stereo bus. You can rename the bus to "reverb" in I/O setup also to help keep track of your busses. On any track where you want some 'verb just make a send going to that bus and then use the send's fader to control the amount of reverb. The advantage of this is that you can use a single instance of the reverb to effect multiple tracks, especially since some reverbs are CPU hogs. Check out the first 3 videos on this page There are a bunch of great tips in there to speed up your session creation
