I can only speak for myself, so: 1. g3 is what I would use for all envelope related actions like "Envelope: Toggle display all visible envelopes in lanes for selected tracks". But without the 'x', '+' or '-' (to make them more generic). 2. No idea 3. But..but..I want more of them! :D 4. Ha! :)
In the I don't know what I would do with it category a1,c3,d3,o3,s3,t3,v3,x1,x3 White Tie explained the letters/text issue, lets work with him here, and debate the icons or icon ideas.

I would think some users might just want to line up their screensets on one row of buttons in which case I would suggest (in icons) "S1" through, say, "S7" would be useful - or of course just 1 through 7 would be more generic and could be put to other uses/. That's a considerable chunk of the 24 though . . .

gotta say I do like the idea of having some buttons that could be assigned to different screensets. Also, what about something like scrub? Perhaps a speaker with an arrow (with arrowheads pointing both directions) underneath? Rock on, sir White Tie! Great stuff you've got going on for the UI! :)
