Have your say : Custom Toolbar Icon Selection

You can now add and customise the buttons on the toolbar, by assigning any action to a button and then picking from a selection of 24 icons to help you remember what you've assigned. Oh yes indeed! Works like this: 24* icons will be provided as part of a theme, and with those 24 we need to cover as wide a range as possible of potential assignments, so a good mixture of 'most likely very common assignments' and 'somewhat abstract and generic to cover a lot of ground' is needed. Many more can be provided as add-ons, but the user will need to swap them out manually, which is not something we should be asking noobs to do. So a well chosen selection of 24 is important. Speak your brains. To get the ball rolling, here is a selection. Please say which ones should be in the provided 24, or what other icons need to be created. Suggestions: If its an action you think most users would use (i.e. not just your personal favourite) please name it. If its a nice generic icon that could act as an aide memoir for a wide range of actions, and its not here, please describe it. We have enough silly ones, I think! Consensus would be nice ..over to you... *NOTE : Why only 24? Because we could go on forever. Because it adds to the installer. Because 24 should be enough. Because 24 is enough of a heavy burden to be putting on the poor themers. Because its a handy size for all-in-one viewing on the selection grid. Because its a terrible TV program. And many, many other reasons... :)

w00t!!!! 24 more icons to make for themes, I'm never gonna get my theme done ... :P anyway nice wall of icons I'll give it some thought and pick 24. btw do you have a definite pixel size for those icons, or will they still be scaled & blurry on Mac compared to Windows,

HA! ROFL! where is the fitting 'flush crap' action for icon w3? Sorry, this had to be asked.:) On topic: this is going to be a hard decision... I like them all too much. How can I eg vote to throw v2 away, just because I don't find a use for it in Reaper (though, it makes an excellent pause button)? I love coffee breaks! And I adore icons with little stick people on them. Could never tell those little fellas to leave... Definitely going to think it over, but don't count on me. Very good work, all of them.

... they can be blurred in Windows too ;) White Tie, It would be a great help to me if you could say which actions those 72 represent (or have I just fallen for it?) - the man and woman signs, the hypodermic needle, the toilet and the trumpet ???

This is really genius and I look forward to see the clever uses this will spawn by others as well as myself. One thing though, - Is it possible to have the custom button remain pressed for certain actions, like say for example for 'Automatically scroll during playback'? That way, for the on/off states, we could get a nifty visual to go with the awesome-within-reach-as-of-now-supergreat functionality. again, just mindblowing.

Cool icons, a few of them I don't know how much of a general usage they'll get (I'm thinking duck, toilet seat, Anarchy)...they're funny enough though :D I would like very much to see a scissors.

This is going to take a while, at least for me who now has to think up stuff to PUT on those icons, then see if something catches my eye for that particular function. The application I've used toolbars with the most is Soundforge. They're dead simple. Let's wait and see what functions people want to put there, and then we'll see whether the icon range you've drawn up will have what it takes :) . Great work. I'm no fan of the colour green, but these look sharp.

It's kind of amusing that we've finally moved away from a floppy disk icon for "save file" but we're using an old-style razor blade to represent a "cutting" action. When was the last time anyone saw or used a razor that held those double-edged blades? :)
