My problem is that latest MPC plays everything (avi, mpg and dvd) in slow motion and I cannot find a way to correct it. WMP 9 is playing everything fine... Any ideas?

RE: MPC in slow motion problem

"My problem is that latest MPC plays everything (avi, mpg and dvd) in slow motion and I cannot find a way to correct it. WMP 9 is playing everything fine..." I think its due to selecting VMR9(renderless) with rendering in 3D. (In view -> options -> output tab). As VMR9 requires a high quality graphics processor, it may show some lagging while playback on slow systems. Try selecting 'render in 2D' first and check the condition. If again same happens, select "system default" in DirectShow Video settings. Oldrenderer is windows default as used by WMP9.(AFIAK) Hope that helps...

RE: MPC in slow motion problem

Nope. Tried that already. In fact after that problem started to appear I tried every conciveable combination but haven't made any progress. I also tried downgrading MPC to a version several generations older but same problem there. At first I thought that maybe some codec is making it play in slow motion but WMP9 and BSplayer plays everything fine. Thanks for your thought. Any other ideas?

RE: MPC in slow motion problem

Sorry for the idea as you have already tried. Btw, Is this problem started with latest version? Or it was already there in previous versions? If it is the first one, I think some settings you made might have locked in registry causing all the trouble. Try deleting Registry entry from here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Gabest -> Media Player Classic. Resetting MPC to "factory default" Otherwise no more ideas. :)

RE: MPC in slow motion problem

Reseting everything in registry helped!:) :) :) Thx for the idea (although I would still like to know what went wrong in the first place. P.S. Finaly I mannaged to reproduce error and it seems it appears when I set internal AC3 decoder to 3+2+LFE configuration. The funny thing is that I haven't even used files that contained AC3 and I also switched internal AC3 filter in the filter list. So it's back to good ol' AC3 filter.

RE: MPC in slow motion problem

This is interesting. I had the same problem: mpc would play some, but not all, avi's slowly. Audio speed and pitch was slowed as well. (For you old-timers it was analagous to playing a 45rpm record at 33-1/3 speed.) So I popped into here, did a search, and found this thread. What's weird is I don't have the registry keys mentioned earlier. It might be because I'm running WinXP SP1. In my case, I fixed it by enabling mpc's internal audio switcher (View > Options > Filters > Audio Switcher). After checking the box, I closed mpc and double-clicked on an avi that was affected by this. It played just fine. The odd thing is I had always used mpc with an external switcher and this was never a problem before.
