regarding this thread in the issue tracker: Just in case that someone will have the same problem...this is how I solved it.

also try putting your pre buffer (for media buffering to 25%) :) I'm sure we went through these settings with you before ;)

I edited all the settings in the first week that I touched reaper... for some reason, it changed back to default at some point...I remember that I also didn't understand why ReaVerb started to stutter suddenly because it worked fine before... now everything works smooth again.

means it starts playing back the audio from disk after only filling the buffer 25% but will continue to look ahead and keep filling the buffer. In songs that have a lot of files playing at once (especially 32bit float) it can take a while for it to play back (also at low latencies I think it takes longer) :)

maybe I clicked on it by mistake I donno...(space bar likes to do it^^) anyway what's matter that there is an answer for this issue. finally I can use reaverb again ^_^

and i thought files are kept in memory. in the case they are read from disk on the fly, a strong cpu and fast disks are needed.

you don't have to wait for the buffers to reach 100% they start playing at 25% full. normally that's a good compromise. :)

files are also converted on the fly ? for example from mp3 to wav ?
