Hello All: Something that's been on my wish list for a long time is a copy/paste settings feature in the Pro Tools Output Window (when doing surround). Has this been added since version 5.1.3? Thanks in advance, Ben B
I almost thought you were joking, but I realize you could actually believe this would happen. Alas, if I understand what you mean, I haven't seen anything like it, but would love to. The ICON and the new software upgrade the system to something that at least pretends to behave like a Harrison console, but not when it comes to routing signal. You can't even do it on the fly yet... Keep it on the wish list, though, you never know what'll happen.
Hey Tor - Thanks for your comments, but I'm not sure if we're referring to the same thing. I'm not talking about signal routing, but the "Output Window," which contains the surround panner, divergence, LFE, center channel percentage controls, etc. I'd like to be able to copy settings from the output window of one track, and paste it into other tracks. See what I'm getting at? Ben B
--------------------- I sold this car after a very lengthy restoration, but it's just too pretty to remove from my sig.
Go to the the region whose settings you want to copy and open up any "pan graph view" on the timeline. Highlight it and press ctrl-cmd-c. Go to to the new region, select the pan view and press ctrl-cmd-v. This will copy/paste ALL "output" window settings. Be careful though, it will wipeout any volume automation you have done. Is this what you are trying to do??
Yeah, that sounds exactly like what I need. You actually have to highlight an audio region of another track? Interesting. And it's just the pan/output window settings that get copied? I'll try this later today. If it works, I really owe you one! Thanks, Ben B
Oh, that is cool. I hope that it works. I've been dreaming of a feature like that for awhile, and simply never imagined that it would happen. I'd still prefer that it worked like copying and pasting plug-in settings, but this is definitely an improvement over the way it used to be...
We expect to have improvements in copying surround pan automation in the next major release of Pro Tools. I can say no more.... Danny Caccavo Product Manager Digidesign
