Can the AMD 780G chipset decode MKV and XVid HD-videos?

Hi, I am very interested in getting a board based on the new AMD780G chipset, since it is advertised as being able to decode HD-videos internally, with very little CPU usage. Of course, this works perfectly with the standard codecs, but the interesting point for me is: is it possible to decode popular codecs like MKV containing HD content with this chipset? Or does this require a lot of CPU power instead? talking about CPU power, what do you recommend as a minimum CPU performance required to decode 1080p MKV files without stuttgering via Software?

Latest mpc-hc can decode H.264 and VC-1 using DXVA, NOT Xvid.

if you are talking about pure software decode- 1080P, then either tri-core or quad will be enough. AMD780G is about hardware decode through UVD. you can use latest mpc-hc to decode H264 mkv files with 0%-5% cpu usage. However, it is not guarantted to work for all H264 files. personally, I just use quad to software decode. only when i got free time, i will play around with UVD for fun..

DXVA acceleration has some restrictions. if the video does not respect those restrictions, it cant be decoded by hardware.
