How can I automatically set "loop enabled" for clips?

I've noticed that sometimes when I record a take it is automatically set "loop enabled" and then sometimes it is not, how can I control this so it will be default one way or the other?

Audio items recorded should be always loop enabled by default, but check preference settings for MIDI and imported items (Options, Preferences, Project Defaults)

Yes I have that enabled but for some reason my recorded midi items are not loop enabled, maybe it's a bug.
