RE: Error Seeking

Problem is, the scene is VERY static. Camera dont move for one hour.... so bframes is very useful. I have to set MIN I-frame to big number, havent i? And i have next question: I have video 352x256. I have read somewhere. If i have small resolution of video then i have to set low quantizer (I and P). What do you mean about it? THANK U.

RE: Error Seeking

I don't quite understand what you are trying to say, but if you have a very static scene your MIN I-Frame value will not make much of a difference, it is the MAX that you are mostly dealing with. The MIN I-Frame Values is the number of frames that must be inserted before the next I-Frame. The Default value is 1, which means that you can have two I-Frames next to each other. If the value is 10, it means that you will have an I-Frame followed by 9 (maybe more) B or P frames before an I-Frame is used. If your scene doesn't change much there isn't a real need for many I-Frames so lots of B and P frames are used before it hits the MAX I-Frame value. The MAX I-Frame value is made for very static scenes. Sense the video doesn't change much, no I-Frames will be needed. So to help seeking and prevent errors from too many P/B frames, I-Frames are forcably inserted. For what you are doing, the MIN I-Frame value probably doesn't mean anything. The MAX value is the one you want to change and if you are having seeking problems like I did, you will want it to be lowered. TelemachusMH *edit* I think you may be confusing frame ranges like the MAX and MIN I-Frame values with quant values. High quants means that the video will be compressed more, then low quants. If you are making a backup of a very static movie, you probably don't need a small resolution like that.
