Ritek's and Pioneer A-104 1.33 firmware

Rumour has it that 1.31 firmware enabled 2X burning on Ritek's, 1.32 disabled it again, and 1.33 restores it. But I've tried 1.30 (on the drive when I bought it), 1.32 and 1.33 and none have given me 2x with the Ritek's I have. So....can anyone confirm that they've actually achieved 2x on Ritek's with the official 1.33 software? Thanks in advance

...before you nag me, I have indeed read the "Sticky Pioneer FAQ" which I interpret as saying that 2x burning for Riteks was removed in 1.32 and has not subsequently been restored. However the main Doom9 news page for 10/13 suggests 2X is back with 1.33 ... which is why I'm now a bit confused.

Not sure about 1.33 but I can certainly confirm 2x on Ritek G03 using 1.31 if that helps.. Cheers Fletch

Ritek G03 is NOT supported with firmware 1.33 for x2 burning

Nope :( It won't burn Ritek with double speed ! Guess they want to keep them out of the market 'cause they're cheap and good.

Coby, there is only one media that's 2X re-enabled with v1.33 according to Pioneer's official statement, and that's CMC.

Thanks guys...has anyone any comment on the pros or cons of the hacked 1.33 firmware? Worth a try?
