Hi there, I really like all the new stuff in the pre-release. Unfortunately, going to version 3 already means that my licence was just valid for a year (I bought it 1 week before version 2 came out). Since it seems that I have to buy a new version now, I am wondering if there is any increase in price for version 3. Also: Is there a different pricing for buying a new version than for updating? Regards, fladd

All over the net there's people who bought version x of this or that program just before version x+1 came out. Sometimes there's a grace period, but then people just outside the grace period feel that's unfair on them. I've never seen a good solution to the problem.
Yeah, finding a good solution there is difficult, I agree. I had the same thoughts as planetnine, I was buying the version 1 licence, because of the free update to version two. Afterwards, I saw that the price did not really go up for version 2, so I probably should have waited. Anyway, I am still wondering what the update price to version 3 will be. fladd
Been wondering the same thing with the pending release of version 3. Only had version 2 since June this year. Oh well got 2 choices don't I? Pay the upgrade (if that is what happens) which is still cheaper than my Reason 4 upgrade or I can use Reaper unlicensed. No wait, there is another option, just don't upgrade (nah that option sucks) Well I am not going to worry about this until I find out what is going to happen, I mean an upgrade discount price on $50? How low can they go before the credit card fees and such actually outweigh what cockos actually get from the sale? Ok for the commercial guys and gals out there a discount might be helpful, but how much can you discount $50? Anyway, in the interests of avoiding Reaper going the path of Propellerheads Rebirth (discontinued to piracy and failing income revenue) I am going to have to find a bit of cash when the upgrade is released. Though I suppose if 2.99 is officially released might be almost good enough :o
Yeah, money's tight everywhere. :( But everytime I open Reaper I feel like I need to buy a new license. Maybe needing a new license for ver 3 will ease my guilt. :D
When I think about how much I have spent over the years on Cakewalk (Sonar admission is around $700 then annual upgrade is about $240 a year) REAPER is just a steal. :) And when you think about what computer, amp, speakers, instruments, microphones etc. all cost, the software cost for Reaper is bugger all really. :D
I don't know if this is/will be any consolation, and I may be mistaken, but I do believe I've read somewhere in these forums, that this pre is and will end up being "Reaper 2.99", with "other goodies" for 3.0 to follow. Granted, it effectively would be, for those concerned your last included update, but everyone's license runs out sometime. And if that is the case, I think it shows just much Cockos takes their users and License agreement into consideration here. And Kudos to them for staying true to it. To squeeze something this big into the last one, instead of pushing it over to the next full version no. . And as previously stated, it is a reasonable price. And you admitted yourself, you bought early to avoid the price jump and save a few bucks initially. Who knew paying $10-25 more then, would've saved you $15-35 or so now. And if I am mistaking, and it does go to 3.0, isn't knowing what you're getting before hand worth the extra cost? Especially now, knowing you'd be good for the next two versions, and what the development is like.

In a couple of band practices, the guys I play with will consume the monetary equivalent of a Reaper license in beer. Hard for me to be too concerned. (a non commercial license, that is)
