Mydoom's been around for a while. There's a free utility called for removing it. Stinger will catch viruses/trojans/worms Norton will miss. It's worth downloading this now and storing it somewhere easily accessible, as you may not be able to download it if you get infected. Watch out for attachments called *****.doc.scr Don't be fooled. These are NOT doc files. They are always viruses. I use Yahoo for mail, which scans for viruses. A few days ago I did a Google search on my name to see what might be out there about me. Used to be fun. This time I found a whole load of new stuff with links named Box live x live cam live vo kelly live regis live erotic emeril ... and my name buried in the descriptive text. Curious, I clicked on one. Immediately my PC crashed. On reboot I got a virus warning. Norton told me I had the Backdoor worm on my C: drive and fixed it. A subtle point to note: I do not boot from my C: drive, otherwise the worm would have been activated and god knows what damage it would have done. This is one huge advantage of having a multiple boot system, and of booting from a partition other than C: I also have two internet capable partitions on this machine. If one gets screwed up, I can always use the other to hunt on the net for a fix.
