Digital sync problems,Help!!!

Advertising

MessageAuthor

I have a MOTU DTP, and a 001. I have a 2" 24 track striped with SMPTE. With my AMIII card, I sent SPDIF out of the DTP to the SPDIF in on the AM111. I put Protools in digital sync and put on line so it syncs via MTC and digital clock in. It works perfect. I have tried this on the 001 and it says there is no valid clock source. If I hook a DAT machine (Not a DA30) directly to the 001, its fine, or if the DTP is set to internal/ spdif (clock source to the DPT is the DAT) The second I put the DTP to SMPTE/MTC, Its says the clock source is invalid. I press OK and its says the clock source is now valid. I press OK and it says the clock source is not valid etc..... Help

RE: Digital sync problems,Help!!!

I have the same problem, Digi says its because the DTP doesn't send out sync when the source(2") is not moving, which causes the LE software to bring up the error message. (unlike with an AM3) I hope they can fix this bug because right now the only way to work around is to play the 2" then press okay on the clock error and you will get a valid clock when you press okay again with the smpte moving, This is a real drag & I wish Digi would of actually tested the digital sync clock with a DTP before they released the OO1, since I WAS told I could lock up fine with a DTP by a digi tech support guy before I bought the system. Good Luck, but from my experience Digi has been ignoring this serious problem based on my previous posts.

I had a similar experience with the ADAT lightpipe input. PTLE kept going back and forth on the two messages (no clock; valid clock) until I started the ADAT. Then all was fine and the tracks transferred glitch-free. ------------------ Larry W.
