DVD conversion GUI's

MessageAuthor

Hi all, I'm posting these thoughts in hope someone can help developers (i) of DVD Conversion GUI tools that integrates other pleople works, but don't know much about DVD structures, ASPI and other technologies related. Q. What stop (some) developers of this tools? A. In short, knowledge of "internal" DVD information. I mean, learn to execute DVD2AVI, integrate BeSweet, automate tmpgenc, do a pulldown of video (with pulldown.exe) and even read parts of an IFO file (with the help of MPUCoder info) is easy (i think). Studying source like Flask, DVD2AVI or others, i think is out of the scope for a "GUI" (Of course studying that is good, but takes tooooo long). Then, there's some info needed to do a tool with a "real one clic" conversion: 1. Forced FILM or NOT? (In case of DVD2AVI) 2. Interlaced? 3. Movie length? 4. Program Chaines in VTS? Other info like: 1. Number and names of subtitles. 2. Number and names of audio. can be extracted from the vts ifo file (see MPUCoder). So, to make it short: Q. What is needed? A. A little tool (exe, source, dll, whatever) that can provide a text file with that information and that does it fast (ex. not reading an entire vob). There are tools like Nic MPEGInfo, Beyeler bbTools and maybe others that provides some information, but not what i'm telling here. Q: Why I not modify these: A: 1. It will take long time (and maybe at the end will be wrong). 2. There are pleople here that can support and provide the tool :D Q: Why more conversion tools? A: To make an example, i'm currently doing a DVD conversion util that can do diferent operations: 1. One clic DVD to SVCD. 2. Redo video, multiplex and make CDs. 3. Redo audio, multiplex and make CDs. 4. Check size of video, calculate audio bitrate, then multiplex,... It can actually do the operations you need by just "checking" the options. Hope someone can provide this tool, and let GUI developers do what it they do best, GUI's :) Thanks, cbwarz

@jj Yes, something like that :D I downloaded the sources but uses the #include <unistd.h> that can't be found on my bc++ ;( From the screenshot look fine, have: Time length, and very complete description of audio and subtitles. But can't find -> PGC, Progressive vs Interlaced, Pulldown ;( Thanks cbwarz
